Mount Pulaski Historic Courthouse

Preserving History Since 1847

Experience the rich history of Abraham Lincoln's 8th Judicial Circuit at this beautifully restored National Historic Landmark.

About the Courthouse

The Mount Pulaski Courthouse State Historic Site is one of only two remaining courthouses on the Eighth Judicial Circuit where Abraham Lincoln practiced law. Built in 1847-48, this two-story brick courthouse served as the Logan County seat until 1855.

Today, the courthouse has been restored to its 1850s appearance and operates as a museum. Visitors can see the courtroom where Lincoln tried cases, the jury room, and the office of the clerk of the circuit court.

The courthouse was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1972 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
